Madd Manson combines gothic rock with
a style of his own to create new genre of music
LOS ANGELES, CA – There’s a weird word in the English language called “Onomatopoeia” that by definition means to form a word from a sound – like “Boom” or “Sizzle” or “Snap!” In most cases, onomatopoeia is used to emphasize the importance of something. It’s used to signify something special and unique.
It makes sense, therefore, that one of the hottest new artists out of LA would create an entirely new genre of music that encapsulates this idea. His name is Madd Manson, and his new genre will soon change the sound of music. It’s a style that pairs hard-hitting lyrics with surprising sounds that catch the attention of listeners in ways that most music today doesn’t.
“We use the most melodic sound we can find to trigger nerves and trip things in the brain and try to hypnotize people,” Madd Manson said. “I want my music to be known for what I talk about and the feeling it gives people. The kind of music we make comes from vibes and feelings.”
That sound is put front and center on Madd Manson’s new mixtape, “Where It Ends,” which features the single “Left 4 Dead.” Manson said this tape talks about nearly every aspect of life, the different situations that he has experienced before music, and what he expects from all the hard work and sacrifices he’s made over the years. It’s also a project that puts his embrace of Dracula imagery front-and-center in ways that not only enhance the Rock and Hip Hop fusion aesthetic he’s trying to create, but also adds to the overall vibe and feeling he’s trying to instill into people who listen to his music.
“By creating our own genre of music, we can present something that’s really melodic, but with a rock star vibe to it,” Manson said. “My image is like Dracula because I’m gothic and I wear a lot of black stuff. And this whole theme of Dracula sucking the blood out of your enemies and the things you want is a metaphor for what I’m trying to accomplish with my music. There’s desire in the blood for Dracula, and making it with my music is my desire.”
With “Left 4 Dead,” Manson puts that mellow and melodic sound to perfect effect underneath lyrics that talk about the friends and family members he has lost over the years. He’s lost brothers and loved ones, and has also had people turn their backs on him over the years – in essence “leaving me for dead.” But he hasn’t let that discourage him and instead, has used it as fuel for his passion with music. Through that process he’s been about to take the traditional an idea of a “rock star” and turn it into something else that’s new and intriguing. He’s excited for fans all over the world to get a taste of that new sound and to join him through his melodic journey.
